Natural Ways to Augment Your Yoga Routine.jpg

Regular yoga practice helps to decrease stress responses in your body. Reducing the inflammatory response to stressors on your body will help reduce your chance of stress-related conditions such as high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease. If you’re looking to augment your yoga routine and get the most of it, this list will give you some tips.

Practice Meditation

Meditation allows you to reduce stress. It brings a sense of peace and calm to your workout, whether or not you achieve your goals. Meditation has been shown to minimize pain perception and balance growth hormones necessary for muscle building. Meditation works very well at the end of a workout, when you are feeling good and in the moment. Sitting or lying down in a meditation at the end of a workout allows your body to calm down. Be present with yourself and express some intentional self-love.

Diffuse Oils

Often used for meditation and stress relief, aromatherapy can invigorate, relax, and provide clarity. Essential oils help prevent wellness for the body and the mind, which are both also benefited by your yoga practice. That's why they go so perfectly together. If you decide to use something like CBD or hemp, make sure it doesn't contain more than the legal limit of THC.  Depending on your goals and your personal scent preferences, there are many different essential oils to consider for your practice.

Go Outside

Yoga has long been a sport which encourages you to check in with yourself, relax, destress and most importantly, reconnect with nature. Many of us take our matts to classes and studios, but what about taking your yoga practice outdoors? The outdoors yoga benefits are endless. Yoga is a practice born to become more aligned and in touch with nature around us. Many of the poses in the practice are named after animals and their movements. Outdoors yoga benefits your body and mind, making you feel more in tune with yourself and the world around you.

Both yoga and meditation improve mental focus and deliver a general feeling of wellbeing. Many yoga disciplines are based around an upbeat theme. Some yoga philosophy seeks the good in all things and is created for an uplifting experience focused on the celebration of the heart. Studies have found that yoga participants are happy, peaceful and upbeat in contrast to the control group who experienced a decrease in general wellbeing.
