Healthy Snacks That Will Keep You from Going Hungry

Some people seem to get by just fine on three meals a day without any snacks. That doesn’t work for everyone though. Some of us need to snack or risk compromising our ability to function normally. If that sounds like you, you need healthy snacks that will keep you going strong throughout the day. So what are some things you should be reaching for?

Nuts

Nuts can be a great snack. They’re a great source of omega-3 fatty acids and plenty of the vitamins and minerals your body needs to function. They also pack a punch with lots of fiber, protein, and healthy fats. All of those things contribute to lasting feelings of fullness–that’s perfect if you want to avoid going hungry.

A word of caution: nuts tend to be high in fat, so a serving size of nuts is much smaller than you might think. Portion servings out in advance to avoid unintentionally overindulging in this tasty snack.

Vegetables

Vegetables are one of the go-to options when it comes to choosing healthy snacks. They’re an excellent source of water, fiber, vitamins, and minerals without adding a ton of calories to your daily calorie count. That’s not all they do, though. Crunchy vegetables help naturally remove bacteria from your teeth. They scrape against the teeth as you chew, removing bacteria.

Vegetables get much of their capacity to make you feel full from their fiber content. You can pair your vegetables with things like nut butter or hummus for a more flavorful snack. As a bonus, the fat and protein found in nut butter and hummus can also help you feel fuller longer.

Fruits with Nut Butters

Combining fruits like apples and bananas with quality nut butter like peanut butter or almond butter is a great way to fit in a healthy snack that will help you feel full. Fruit is an excellent source of natural sugars, vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Quality nut butter can be a good source of healthy fats and protein. Together, they make up a healthy snack that helps you feel fuller for longer. Make your own nut butter at home to control its salt and sugar content.

There’s nothing worse than feeling hungry and knowing that there are still hours to go before your next meal. Beat your hunger back with snacks that are both nutritious and delicious. Not only will you enjoy eating them, but you’ll also be left feeling full and satisfied in every way that matters.
