Starting Yoga Shouldn’t Be Hard—We’ve Got You Covered

Today, the phone rang, and Helen answered. The student on the other end had questions, but more than that, they had doubts.

“I think I’m too old for yoga.”

Helen smiled. “Most of our students are older. Our classes are designed to be welcoming for all ages.”

The caller paused. “I’m not flexible.”

“That’s actually why yoga is great,” Helen said. “You don’t have to be flexible to start. Yoga helps build flexibility over time, at your own pace.”

“Well, I’ve never done yoga before. Do you have beginner classes?”

“Yes! We have several classes perfect for beginners. Our Yoga Basics class is a great place to start, and we also offer slower-paced options like Soulful Slow Flow and Restorative Yin.”

The caller hesitated again. “I don’t have a mat.”

“No problem. We have mats you can borrow at no extra cost.”

“What about what to wear?”

“Something comfortable that lets you move. Leggings, sweatpants, or even loose-fitting clothes work well.”

“Which class should I try first?”

Helen suggested Yoga Basics or Soulful Slow Flow. “Both will introduce you to the practice in a way that feels approachable and supportive.”

The student took a deep breath. “You really do have answers for everything.”

Starting something new can feel overwhelming, but you’re not alone in that. Every hesitation is valid, and every question has a solution. At Emerald Yoga Studio, we’ve created a space where yoga feels approachable, no matter your age, experience, or flexibility. If you've been thinking about trying yoga, know that there's a place for you here.

We know that stepping into a new studio can feel intimidating. Helen and I have both been to places that felt cliquey or unwelcoming, and that’s exactly why Emerald Yoga Studio is different. Our goal has always been to foster a space where everyone feels like they belong—where yoga is for every body, and where you can show up just as you are. No judgment, no expectations, just a welcoming community ready to support you on your journey.
