How to Create Closed Captions and Live Transcription on Zoom for Your Yoga Classes (9).png

What is closed captioning?

Closed captioning (CC) and subtitling are both processes of displaying text on a television, video screen, or other visual display to provide additional or interpretive information.

What is live transcription?

Live Transcription provides robot transcription services, which enables speech-to-text transcription in Zoom Meetings and Zoom Webinars. This feature is enabled by the host of the meeting or webinar once it begins.

Why should we add these features to virtual yoga classes?

There are many reasons why our students may choose to utilize closed captions in virtual yoga classes.
These reasons include but are not limited to:
- Hearing impairment
- Sound sensitive environments (children, pets, coworkers)
- Comprehension of dialogue
- Closed captions help maintain concentration
- Viewers who know English as a second language benefit from closed captions because they make it easier to follow along with the speech

About Landen Stacy

Landen is a creative entrepreneur, yoga instructor, and yoga studio owner. He lives in South Shore, Massachusetts. Landen enjoys geocaching, kayaking, yoga, farmer’s markets and has been a vegetarian since 2008. His favorite yoga pose is Half-Moon, and his least favorite is Dolphin. Landen was first introduced to yoga in high school as an alternative to gym class. He took his 200-hr yoga teacher training at the studio he currently owns back in 2017. Landen became the owner of Emerald Yoga Studio in 2019. His favorite part of teaching yoga is creating a chain reaction between those he serves and those who interact with them. After seeing an underserved part of the community struggle, Landen decided to take the Accessible Yoga Training in 2020 to spread the healing benefits of yoga to those unable to receive it before.
